How the Cheetah Got Its Limp
I've never really posted any poems from my 1997 book Detached Retinas on the internet for a simple reason: laziness. I don't have the files for that book anywhere, and I've never felt like typing them out, despite every poem being less than 25 lines, so none of them are on the internet. Here's the first one. It's titled How the Cheetah Got Its Limp.
How the Cheetah Got Its Limp
It was a Tuesday,
The Serangheti, Africa,
Bill, the cheetah,
Was running fast
In pursuit of dinner
When he stumbled over
A boar lollygagging
In the grass
And turned an ankle.
It's tough being a cheetah
With a limp.
