Timmerman's Supper Club and East Dubuque
There's not much difference in atmosphere when you cross the eastern border of Iowa from Dubuque and enter Illinois at East Dubuque. I did make a joke as we crossed the border in the opposite way that everything seemed to get immediately flatter, but going up 3rd Street in Dubuque dispelled that illusion. It does seem that once you enter that Tri State vortex almost everything is a tourist trap. Pottery and kitsch. The declared population of Galena is 3,800, but driving through there on a Sunday in June you'd think 50,000 people live there. I quickly tapped out and asked Jenny to get us the hell out of there. I'm glad Jenny got this shot of Timmerman's Supper Club in East Dubuque. It looked like a delightful place, but we didn't stop. Maybe some other time.
