Northern Illinois Asparagus
The asparagus is in! The good news is it will be in again tomorrow, too. The specimens on the left are how i like it, and the specimens on the right are the ones I cut for Jenny. I helped her parents plant peppers and beans and tomato a couple of days ago and I am expecting bountiful baskets of fresh produce I helped plant in a few weeks. It tastes better. I'd like to have a rain barrel, too, but I'm not one of those people who believes the water that comes out of a faucet is toxic. However, I do acknowledge it probably has traces of a lot of the stuff I have in my medicine cabinet that I've been prescribed over the years and never took because I consider it worse than whatever it was meant to treat. It's also a lot nicer than paying twenty to forty dollars a pop at the lone organic produce store we have here in Rockford. I saw Rick Nielsen of Cheap trick when I was in there earlier in the week. He's the only member of the band I haven't served a drink and don't have an interesting story about, which is interesting itself because he's the one you see most around town. I have to go write about a rare cold weather Beholder sighting now.
