Dr. Strangedog, Phil Knight, and Joe Paterno

"If there is a villain in this tragedy, it lies in that investigation and not in Joe Paterno." The Nike founder went on to say in his eulogy that the death of the pedophile defending Joe Paterno left him without a hero. You're a very bad man, Phil Knight. If there is a villain in this tragedy, it begins with a man who raped children, then extends to all of those who knew about it, and enabled him for a very, very long time, chiefly, your hero, Joe Paterno. But that villainy extends to those who seem to be either in denial that Joe Paterno knew for nearly two decades what Jerry Sandusky was doing, or just don't really care. Either way, I wouldn't expect less from a man so willing to profiteer from the suffering of children. You're a bad human being, Phil Knight, and I can only hope the gods are watching.

Joe Paterno and Phil Knight
Dr. Strangedog #2
I can't believe Jenny was able to hammer this out in the two hours after I excitedly told her I finally knew what Dr. Strangedog was about. Welcome to Dr. Strangedog. Maybe you'll want to see what our webcomic heroine, Single Zombie Female has to say about current events. We encourage sharing (see buttons below) as we kind of work hard on this.

February 18, 2013 update: Well, it seems Nike has another murderer in their celebrity stable of heroes. Either Nike has a taste for scumbags, or they simply don't give a shit that they have more pieces of garbage in their employ than Congress.  The media can also take a bow for buying the Oscar Pistorius fairy tale hook, line, and sinker. However, The Hall of Bad Dudes was never buying it.

  1. Thanks Thomas, it would've gone faster had I not been cooking and wrangling a rhino at the same time today.

    1. It has to be false for it to be slander.

    2. This is false. "then extends to all of those who knew about it, and enabled him for a very, very long time, chiefly, your hero, Joe Paterno."

The State College Police & the Centre County District Attorney knew back in 1998 that there may have been possible misconduct by Sandusky. They let this continue by not prosecuting.

Penn State Administration knew in 2002 that there was possible misconduct going on with Sandusky and choose to do nothing. Joe Paterno is not part of the administration which does include but is not limited to: the athletic director, the VP of Finance, the university's president, & the entire board of trustees. Joe Paterno turned over the information he was given to the only place he could. I've spoken to multiple police officers here locally in State College and also a couple PA State troopers, and each of them said the same thing: that they don't have jurisdiction within University Park and that they would have referred any and all claims of misconduct to the Penn State Police Department to be investigated. Penn State FAILED here and the BOT are just as to blame if not more than Joe Paterno. Especially when you realize how much money people on the BOT gave to the 2nd Mile and the fact that Sandusky was hanging out with people from the BOT not even weeks before he was indited.

You can also blame PA's own Governor. He took money from the 2nd mile to run for office and also delayed any action against Sandusky for years as he prepared his run for office.

As you can see there are plenty of blame to go around for allowing Sandusky's actions to continue for years and years. The least of which was on Paterno's part. It is well documented that Paterno was not friends with Sandusky nor did the two ever interact with each other after Sandusky retired from coaching. The only thing Paterno could have done more about was to follow up with the Penn State Administration and to push further for an investigation but again that's with 20/20 hind-sind. Also keep in mind the information has not come out yet of what Joe did or didn't do post the initial meeting with the AD and VP.

    3. No way you get away that load of bullshit. Not here. You can't have it both ways. Joe Paterno wielded as much or more power at Penn State than anyone on any board. He knew about these rape allegations and allowed Sandusky to use Penn State facilities unsupervised for a long time afterwards. You're "He was just a doddering old man" defense doesn't fly here. He was a powerful, powerful man who's word was as good as law at Penn State. We can agree that there is blame enough to go around, but your attempt to deflect blame onto the board and anyone but Paterno just won't hold water. He knew, he was the big man on campus, and he looked the other way. Dispute that.

    1. Thanks for the compliment on the art. I almost understand your admiration for Paterno, unfortunately the idea of Joe Paterno was better than the man.

  4. Aside from the fact that he knew Jerry Sandusky was raping boys and continued to allow him to use Penn State facilities? That's all I ever need or care to know about Joe Paterno. Read the grand jury report, amigo, you're defending a child rape enabler.

  5. And likewise on the puking, whoever you are.

  6. I wonder if you'd get a lot of people willing to defend Joe Paterno these days. Good job being one of the first to call out the hypocrisy and evil. From reading your blog you seem to do that a lot and are almost always right. Joe Paterno was definitely a Bad Dude, and will be remembered that way forever. HallofBadDudes
