August 15th Is National Reginald "The Crusher" Lisowski Day

When I was a kid one of my favorite wrestlers was AWA Champion Reginald "The Crusher" Lisowski. I loved watching his matches on Sunday mornings. I am naming August 15th Crusher Day. I recommend everyone celebrate with a keg of Old Milwaukee and some turkey neck.

Reginald “The Crusher” Lisowski (1926–2005) was one of the most popular wrestlers in AWA history and a genuine Upper Midwest folk hero. The South Milwaukee native was a three-time AWA World Heavyweight Champion and nine-time AWA World Tag Team Champion. Known for his gravelly voice, bleached hair, bolo punch and beer-drinking workingman persona, The Crusher promised to flatten “turkey necks” before celebrating with beer and a polka. He was inducted into the WCW, Professional Wrestling and Wrestling Observer Newsletter halls of fame.

May 13th Is National Baron von Raschke Day

May 13th is National Baron von Raschke Day. Make sure to celebrate by giving your mom The Claw.

"And that's all the people need to know."

James “Baron von” Raschke was a decorated amateur wrestler before becoming one of professional wrestling’s strangest and most memorable villains. The Nebraska native began working for the AWA in 1966 and became famous for his goose-step, wild-eyed interviews and finishing hold, the Brain Claw. Raschke later became a fan favorite and joined The Crusher to win the AWA World Tag Team Championship in 1984. His immortal explanation—“And that is all the people need to know!”—ended nearly every interview.

Baron von Raschke Meets the Soup Nazi

I would like a bowl of soup, please.

There is no soup here for you, Baron von Raschke

One bowl of soup, please.

No!

Lead singer of Devo Mark Mothersbaugh requests one bowl of soup, please.

Professional wrestler and former school teacher, Baron von Rascke, your thinly-veiled canard designed to obtain a bowl of soup has not deceived me. You shall obtain no soup.

Soup.

Unobtainium.

Baron von Raschke AND Mad Dog Vachon? please enter my humble establishment and partake of a fine bowl of soup.

Go fuck yourself. We're going to Arby's.

November 21, 2013: RIP Mad Dog Vachon. A true gentleman according to many who had the good fortune to meet him.
